Lot 289

1851 N-23 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous light to medium bluish steel brown with traces of mint red on both sides, particularly on the obverse. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. An absolutely choice cent if not for a dull diagonal nick in the field under the chin and two dull nicks on the bust. MDS, die state b. The earlier fine die lines at TA in STATES are gone and fine die flowlines show in the fields. Our grade is MS60+, tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 65+. Estimated Value $500 - UP
