Lot 282

1851 N-19 R3 Second 1 Repunched PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Slightly faded mint red mellowing to medium steel brown on the highpoints, about a third of the mint red remaining. The only marks are a very thin diagonal nick in the field over star 2, another in the dentils at star 11, a small splash of darker toning at the dentil tips over star 2, and traces of an old fingerprint on the upper left of the reverse. The surfaces are lustrous and this cent has excellent eye appeal. LDS, die state e, with numerous die cracks on the obverse. The repunching at the second 1 is no longer visible. Our grade is MS63+, CC#4 in the Grellman census but finest of the latest die state. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 65. Estimated Value $1,000 - UP
