JAPANESE SHORT WAKIZASHI, BLADE SIGNED. An Antique Japanese Short Wakizashi, Edo Period, 13" blade, about 19" overall with grip. Blade having a relatively shallow curve, low-back ridge (mune), with a straight- medium point, Strong visible temper (Hamon), with good + polish having a few small pits and minor scratches, signed tang (needs to be researched). Round Pierced guard (Tsuba). (1) spacers(Seppa) present, grip (Tsukamaki) of deep Olive color binding. Matched Menukis (one on each side of grip under the wrap) with matching Kashira (the end piece of the grip) and Fuchi (the closest piece of furniture of the grip closest to the Tsuba); scabbard (Saya) of black & maroon textured polished lacquer, carrying strap bolster (Kurigata) to secure the carrying strap (Sageo), side knife (Kazuka) missing. $800 - 1,200
