Sale 116

Lot 275

1806. Pointed 6, stem through claw. Overton-116, Rarity 3. PCGS graded MS-65. PQ. Lovely light blue and gold toning with vibrant luster throughout. The reverse is a perfect match with soft silver-gray toning and a minor golden streak on the lower left into the shield. The strike is rather sharp which considering how late this die state is makes this one all the more noteworthy. There are encircling cracks though the date and stars, similar on the reverse with a crack through the tops of UNITED S and down into the top third of TATE. No surface issues are present, and this coin will certainly stand tall in any advanced numismatic holdings. Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle coins simply do not exist in Gem by and large, and finding one at that grade level is quite a treat. America was in its just formed era, where the founding fathers still walked among us, and when this coin was struck Thomas Jefferson was president! In all ways, this is simply a wonderful example. Pop 7; 6 finer at PCGS for the type but none finer for the variety if attributed. (PCGS # 6071) Estimated Value $65,000 - UP
