Lot 2638

1913 $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-63. The Philadelphia Mint produced only 168,838 coins in 1913 and mint state survivors are scarce to mildly rare up to the MS63 grade. In gem condition, the 1913 double eagle is a serious rarity and is seldom seen. A rich yellow gold example with shimmering frosty and microgranular surfaces. The entire coin is very clean for the grade and the only prominent marks to note are a diagonal tick on Liberty's left arm near elbow and another at the top of the eagle's wings on the reverse. PCGS has graded 235 in MS-63, 122 in MS-64 and 6 in MS-65 as the finest (PCGS # 9161) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.

Realized $4,140
