Lot 2583

Meissen Porcelain Wares. A Fine and Large, Square Tray. Hand painted flowers, on a pure white ground, form the centerpiece of this impressive handled tray. Dominating are the full bloom rose in colored in a madder crimson, plus the violet-hued iris, both lusciously, and sympathetically rendered. The gold-fired ornate and raised edging in sinuous arabesques, with scallop shell corners, and two cartouches, each enclosing a small painted floral spray. Behind, on the wall underneath a cartouche, a mark of two crossed swords in cobalt blue, with two grooves cutting though them. Tray immaculate, with only a hint of wear to the gold around the handles. Size: 16-1/4" x 16". Ca. 1930, or earlier.
Estimated Value $750 - 1,000.
