Great Britain. Crown, 1696. S.3470; ESC-89; Dav-3781. William III. First bust type. Obverse; Draped laureate bust of king right. Reverse; Crowned shield of arms. This coin has an edge which has been struck in error and reads: DECVS IMEN TAMEN ANNO REGNI OCTAVO in raised letters, with cross crosslet stops. Unusual and rare thus.
A very attractive coin struck on a large flan with light golden peripheral toning, the portrait and reverse detail somewhat frosted and the fields prooflike. PCGS graded MS-61. Estimate Value $1,800 - 2,000
