Janet Gaynor is one of the rare actresses who excelled in silent films and talkies. She was the first to win the Best Actress Oscar for the silent masterpiece SUNRISE and then nominated for the 1937 version of A STAR IS BORN with Fredric March. She was very closely associated with Charles Farrell as co-star in over a dozen films and partner.
