Lot 240

1816 N-2 R1 PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Rotated Reverse. Lustrous light sea green and light olive brown with a hint of light bluish steel overtone. A classic "greenie" that is so popular among many copper enthusiasts. The only defects are a small patch of extremely faint carbon at the peak of the first 1 and another in the field close to the chin. Nice eye appeal for the grade. M-LDS with rim cud breaks from star 8 to star 10.75 and a smaller one at star 11.5. The reverse is rotated 45 degrees CW. Most likely from the famous Randall Hoard of mint state cents dated 1816-1820. Our grade is MS60. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
Ex McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/25/2003:226-John Koebert.
