Lot 2317

1848 N-11 R5. NGC graded MS-61 Brown. Frosty light steel brown, the obverse a shade or two darker than the reverse. Peeps of faded mint color can be found in protected areas of the reverse. The only distracting mark is a small spot of dark toning at the top of the 4, and inside this spot are two tiny scrapes that reveal lighter coppery color. The fields and protected areas are satiny and the overall eye appeal is quite nice. Rare terminal die state, die state e, with three small but clear rim cud breaks on the reverse. EAC grade net AU50+. Tied for CC#6 of the variety and tied for CC#3 among those known in the terminal die state. The attribution is noted on the NGC label.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.

Realized $1,265
