1849 N-30 R5+ PCGS graded XF40. Glossy medium brown with light chocolate and steel toning on the highpoints of the devices. Smooth and attractive with only a few minor contact marks, just lightly worn. A thin diagonal nick left of the peak of the 1 and a tiny planchet chip under the lower right point of star 3 can help identify this cent. LDS, die state b, with obvious crumbling inside the top of the N in ONE. Our grade is VF25, tied for CC#13 in the Grellman census for the variety but tied for CC#3 of those known in the late die state. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 4 finer: 1 in 50, 2 in 63, 1 in 64. Estimated Value $500 - UP
