Lot 225
1794 S-59 R3 Basal State-1 (Counterstamped). Glossy dark olive brown and chocolate. This cent may have had the details of a VG piece before it was strongly counterstamped with a large "WA" on the reverse inside a serrated rectangle. This stamp is not listed in the Brunk reference, but it looks very old. The date remains readable as does most of the legend outside the wreath.
