Lot 222

Columbia Phonograph, Co: The Graphophone. Nice Condition, Mechanics Operating and Painted Details Intact, Very Appealing Player ca.1890s. Compared to the Edison players in this auction, this Graphophone is certainly smaller but a charmer nonetheless. Starting with the oak wood cover, the Graphaphone logo is in excellent condition and the oak wood has a nice green stain to it which we have only seen one other time. The cover has two screws that attach to base for easy carrying and they are solid. Exposed mechanism with black painted base plate has some nicks but the gold gilt details around the border are in very good condition and the floral motif in center. Threaded key included (must be unscrewed for cover to fit) and cylinder turns with just a nudge to the gears as the decades old oil is a bit sticky. We have included three wax cylinder phonographs for visual appeal when displaying. 7 x 10 x 6½". Estimated Value $350 - UP

Realized $234
