Theodosius II. Gold Solidus (4.46 g), AD 402-450. Constantinople, AD 443-450. D N THEODOSI-VS P F AVG, diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Thedosius II facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder and shield with horseman spearing enemy. Reverse: IMP XXXXII COS XVII P P, Constantinopolis seated left, foot resting on prow, holding globus cruciger and scepter; shield behind; in left field, star; COMOB. Cf. RIC 293-314 (punctuation); Depeyrot 84/1. NGC grade AU; Strike: 4/5, Surface: 3/5. Light graffito.

The slight doubling of the legends obscures the punctuation on this coin, which is needed to precisely attribute the coin to RIC number.
