German States - Hesse-Cassel. Taler, 1627-TS. Dav-6734; Schütz-729; KM-96; Hoffm-830. Mintmaster TS (Terentius Schmid, 1621-1634). Wilhelm V, 1627-1637. Portrait bust of Wilhelm facing right. Reverse Helmeted arms. Sharply struck with dark gray toning. Rare. NGC graded AU-58.
So few of these portrait types were issued. The mint was just beginning to produce the Storm Talers in 1627, and portrait pieces were shunted aside for a number of years.
