Sale 26

Lot 210

Indian Head Cent. 1867, 67 over 67. FS-008, Snow-1. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. Brilliant subdued red surfaces with pristine cartwheel luster. Liberty's device has sharp feather tips, a spotless and untouched neck and a near perfect cheek and face. Only several small spots of a darker color are mixed in with finely granuler fields. A faint clashmark of the wreath is in front of Liberty's face. The date boldly displays evidence of the 67 over 67 with an extremely defined additional top serif of 7 above the intial 7. The six in the date also exhibits the top of another 6 above it. Sunburst toning just to the left of the date near the border. Reverse detail and eye appeal is spectacular and brilliant red. A real beauty that is finer than the PCGSMS64 example we sold in our June 2004 Sale (Lot # 107), that piece realizing $8,625. PCGS has graded only 3 examples of this variety in Red, all in MS64. We feel that this could quite possibly be the Finest Known! (PCGS # 92090) .
Estimated Value $10,000 - 13,000.
