Lot 209
[Nordau, Max] Envelope Addressed To Max Nordau at Zionist Congress, London. Dr. Max Nordau (July 29, 1849 - January 23, 1923) was a co-founder of the World Zionist Organization, together with Theodor Herzl. While the first three Zionist Congresses were held in Basle, the Fourth Zionist Congress was held in London from August 13-16, 1900 because Theodor Herzl believed that England would be highly sympathetic to the persecutions in Roumania and the Zionist plight. One can only wonder what missive was contained in this 4 ¾" x 6 ¼" envelope imprinted H. S. Myers, 79, Chatham Street, Abercromby Square, Liverpool, that was sent from J. Gordon Esq. to the organizer and keynote speaker of the Fourth Zionist Congress, Dr. Max Nordau. H. S. Meyers must have been close with Dr. Nordau, since Myers was Secretary of the fraternal group known as the Dr. Max Nordau Lodge. Estimated Value $75 - 100.
