Lot 206

1849 N-9 R4+ NGC graded MS63 Brown. Frosty medium steel brown. No defects but the surfaces are a bit dull from a thin layer of natural oxidation. Looks mint state but there is a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. The only notable marks are a speck of carbon or dirt nestled between two dentils under the end of the wreath ribbon and a pair of tiny rim bruises over the I in UNITED. LDS, die state f, with several small crumbles on the reverse including one on the bottom of the berry under the first S in STATES. Our grade is EF45+, very close to AU50, and tied for CC#7 in the Grellman census. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the NGC label. NGC population 1; 1 finer in 64. Estimated Value $500 - UP
