Lot 2

1840 N-2 R2 Small 18 over Large 18 PCGS graded AU58, CAC Approved. Attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth and nearly void of marks. A subtle puff of reddish brown toning in the field right of the main curl, another nestled below star 12, and a dull nick on the left bottom of the first S in STATES are the only notable marks. Sharply struck MDS, die state b, with a narrow rim cud break below 840. The Small 18 over Large 18 feature is obvious. Our grade is EF45. A nice example of this popular "Redbook" variety. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 2 in 64BN, 1 in 66BN at PCGS. Estimated Value $750 - UP
