1802 S-232 R1. PCGS graded Uncirculated Details Repaired. Frosty medium steel brown and light chocolate with golden tan in protected areas. There is a puff of darker toning in the field before the chin where a shallow mark was lightly smoothed away, a diagonal nick on the jaw, a thin nick or planchet void right of the second S in STATES, and a minor rim bruise at the N in UNITED. The eye appeal is excellent in spite of these marks. M-LDS, Breen state VI, with a strong cud break at ATE in STATES. Graded MS60 net AU55 and tied for CC#1 honors in the Noyes census, his photo #39326. Not seen by Bland. Our grade is net AU50. This cent was exchanged by the ANS in 2000 for the Clapp-ANS cent that was removed from the collection by Dr. Sheldon. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label (PCGS # 36305) Value $2,500 - UP
