Morris, Robert (1734-1806) Revolutionary War financier; Signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution; founder of the Bank of North America. Stock Certificate for one share of the North American Land Company Signed "Robt Morris" as President, 9¾" x 12½", Philadelphia, 18 April 1795. Fine; light toning; some erosion in bold signature due to iron gall ink. Morris landed in debtor's prison in 1798 as a result of losses from land speculation.
