1848 N-38 R4- PCGS graded AU55. Glossy medium brown with frost in protected areas. Hints of very faded mint red show in protected areas on the reverse. No spots or stains. The only notable marks are a long, thin nick on the jaw, a very light scuff that lightens the toning between stars 1 & 2, and another small scuff above star 5. Rare LDS, die state c, with a heavy die line that has been added between the leaves under the F in OF. Our grade is EF40+, CC#7 for the variety but finest of the late die state in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 2 finer: 1 in 63, 1 in 64. Estimated Value $400 - UP
