1797 S-120b R2 Reverse of 1796, Gripped Edge. PCGS graded AU-58. Glossy mix of olive and light brown with the light brown toning dominating the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and the only notable marks are several wisps of darker reddish brown toning near the rims on the reverse, the largest of these at TATES-O. LDS, Breen state VI, with die cracks on both sides and minor swelling at UNITED. Graded MS60 net AU50 and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #27741. Bland says AU50 and tied for CC#4 in his census. Our grade is AU50. A very nice example of the Gripped Edge version of the 1797 Reverse of 1796 variety. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer. (PCGS # 35900) Value $13,000 - UP
