Lot 186

1828 N-10 R1 Small Date PCGS graded AU58, CAC Approved. Frosty light steel brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and lighter golden tan toning faded down from mint color in some of the protected areas. Looks mint state but there is a trace of friction on the highest points of the devices. The best identifying marks are a swipe of darker steel toning from the chin to star 3 and two tiny ticks over the left side of the second 8 in the date. Nicely struck E-MDS with microscopic radial die flowlines starting to show from the dentils on both sides. Graded AU50 net EF45 and tied for CC#15 in the Noyes census, his photo #36224. Our grade is EF45+, very close to AU50. A nice example of this "Redbook" variety. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #36907. Pop 3; 8 graded higher at PCGS for the variety, 6 in MSBN, 2 in MSRB. Estimated Value $750 - UP
