AR Shekel (13.5g) dated Year One (66/7 C.E.). Temple vessel (omer cup?) with wide plain rim and pearl on either side; above date and surrounding Hebrew inscription: Shekel of Israel. Reverse: Stem with three budding pomegranates; Hebrew inscription: Jerusalem is Holy. This variety was issued before the pearled rim type. Boldly struck on a wide flan, but somewhat off center. Hammered edges are cruder than later issues. H-655, AJC 2a. About Extremely Fine.
