1862, $1 United States Note. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ. Fr-16. . KL-3. As pretty an example of this early Greenback as we can recall seeing, this near-Superb example boasts extremely broad margins for the type and the paper surfaces are strictly original in every sense of the word. It is boldly embossed, almost perfectly centered, and would match up aesthetically with any other example of this design in any grade. A splendid example for the Fr. number or type note collector, and nearly impossible to best as PCGS Currency has graded just two examples better (both 67PPQ) to date.
