Byzantine Empire. Romanus IV Diogenes & Eudocia, 1068-1071 AD. Gold Histamenon Nomisma (4.42 g) Constantinople mint. Son Michael, holding labarum and akakia, flanked by Constantius and Andronicus, each holding globus cruciger and akakia, all standing facing on footstool. Reverse: Christ, nimbate, standing facing on footstool, crowning Romanus and Eudocia, each standing facing and holding globus cruciger. SBC 1859; DOC III 1. Very slight softness to a couple of faces, otherwise well struck and crisp, with abundant glossy luster. A very appealing coin. Superb Extremely Fine.
