Lot 164

1825 N-8 R3 PCGS graded MS66BN. PCGS graded MS-66 Brown. Highly lustrous light olive and bluish steel brown with generous traces of slightly faded mint red showing in protected areas on both sides. Great eye appeal and only a few microscopic imperfections. A barely visible dark olive brown speck in the field over star 2 and a slightly larger one under the right foot of the R in AMERICA can help identify this outstanding cent. MDS with microscopic die flowlines in the fields, minor crumbling at the dentil roots at star 12 nearly to the stars on either side, and a faint die crack meandering through the hair over BER. Called MS65 choice and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #21467. Bland says MS63 and finest known among the confirmed examples. Our grade is MS64+, close to MS65. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $10,000-UP.
