1848 N-17 R1 NGC graded MS65 Red & Brown. Frosty mint red fading to medium steel brown with 30% of the red remaining on the obverse, 50% on the reverse. Nearly flawless; a tiny tick hidden in the hair right of the ear lobe and a shiny tick on the top of the A in STATES can help identify this cent. This cent has excellent eye appeal. MDS, die state b. Minor repunching shows on the 4 in the date but repunching is no longer visible on the other 3 digits. Our grade is MS63+, tied with one other piece for finest known honors in the Grellman census, and this one has more mint red.
