Merycoidon Mammal Skull. Merycoidon culbertsoni was a strange 30 million year old mammal from the extinct oreodont mammal group that shared some features of a pig and some of a deer. This 6.5 x 2.75 x 4 inch skull is complete on one side with excellent brown bone and darker brown teeth with large, sharp, somewhat pig-like canines. About half of the back of the skull is still buried in the original matrix which has been smoothed and forms a natural base to best display the impressive specimen. From a Sioux County, Nebraska collection.
