Lot 1609

Loring, William Wing. Lot of two items, the first being a carte de visite portrait of the General, no backmark. Mounted on a double-lined card, there is minor soil and a faint pencil ID at the bottom of the image, but the piece is in otherwise fine condition.

Document Signed ("W.W. Loring"). Signed as Lieutenant Colonel at the Columbia Barracks in the Pacific Northwest. One page, small folio, Columbia Barracks, March 1851. Docketed verso. Being a hospital rations voucher/report. Folds with tiny edge separation at one intersection; minor toning at folds, else fine. Strong signature.

A wonderful lot that illustrates some of Loring's long military career. As the Lieutenant Colonel at Columbia Barracks, Loring was respected by his men and did much of the day-to-day work of running the installation.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
