Lot 156

1825 N-2 R2 PCGS graded MS65BN. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown. Lustrous steel and chocolate brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel toning on both sides and traces of faded mint color peeking through in a few of the protected areas. The fields are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. The only marks are a few microscopic ticks on the cheek below the eye and a couple more over the N in CENT, but these marks are barely visible even with the aid of a glass. Nicely struck MDS with an extremely faint die crack from the bust tip to the peak of the 1 in the date down toward the dentils and another equally faint one down through the right point of star 7 through the I in LIBERTY and eye to the nostril. The dentils do not show any crumbling or rim cuds. Struck very slightly off center to K-10.5. Called MS65 choice and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20555. Bland says MS65 and tied for CC#1. Our grade is MS65. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $7,500-UP.
