Lincoln, Abraham. Partly-printed document signed ("Abraham Lincoln"), as President, vellum, 18¼ x 14¼", Washington, March 22, 1862. Countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. Appointing Speed S. Fry as Brigadier General of Volunteers. Docketed by Adj. Gen. Lorenzo Thomas at upper left; seal is intact at upper left. Manuscript information is faint but legible. Lincoln's full signature is of medium boldness. Some age spotting and yellowing around edges; still an attractive document. Fry (1817-1892) was a lawyer, judge, and a U.S.Army officer during the Mexican-American War and American Civil War. $4,500 - 5,500
