Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 100

Lot 1479

1932. PCGS graded MS-60. Here is a nice example for the given grade of MS-60, and a coin which will likely be resubmitted for a potential higher grade. Despite a mintage of over 1 million pieces, virtually the entire issue of 1932 double eagles was melted in the 1930s once gold was called in from circulation--only months after most of these were struck. Today there are precious few of these that survive, and the 1932 double eagle has long been known as a very rare date. Housed in an Old Green Holder. Only 100 examples estimated to have survived according to PCGS Pop Report. Pop 1; 84 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 9194) Estimate Value $20,000 - 22,000

Realized $49,350
