1884 Pattern Cent. Nickel, plain edge. Judd-1721. Pollock-1929. Rarity-5. PCGS graded Proof 66. A flashy and lustrous superb gem! Reflectivity most concentrated near the borders. Immediately recognizable due to the large, irregular hole in the center of the planchet. ONE CENT at top of reverse with an upsidedown shield at the bottom. Identified by a small lint mark close to the last A in AMERICA. This pattern was designed by Eastman Johnson and brought to life when the U.S. Mint decided to start experimenting with annular coinage again. Commonly referred to as the "Holey" cent (PCGS # 62150) .
