Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 100

Lot 1471

1927-S. PCGS graded MS-62. CAC. PQ. Another date where the mintage is not meaningful. Today approximately 225 pieces survive according to CoinFacts. This may be a generous estimate. These San Francisco coins were clearly not included in thebulk shipments of double eagles to Europe or anywhere else, as they have not turned up in any quantity. No small hoards have been reported either. Long regarded as one of the key dates to the series, and this attractive mint state coin will certainly find an honored place in any advanced collection. A nice scarce date Double Eagle with golden toning. Pop 32; 46 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 9188) Estimate Value $19,000 - 20,000

Realized $29,375
