Lot 145

1824 N-3 R2 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty medium steel brown and light chocolate. The surfaces are lustrous and this cent looks mint state, but there are a few too many tiny contact marks for a mint state grade. The notable marks are some microscopic ticks in the field around stars 4-6 and a tiny rim bruise at the N in UNITED. LDS. The inner circle at the dentil tips on the obverse is gone and many of the dentils are weak or missing, but the portrait details are quite sharp. Graded MS60 net AU55 and CC#5 in the Noyes census, his photo #20451. Our grade is AU58. The attribution and Naftzger-Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #36772. Pop 4; 4 graded higher at PCGS for the variety, 3 in 64 BN, 1 in 65 RB. Estimated Value $5,000 - UP
