Lot 1437

1941. Struck on a thick planchet. NGC graded AU-55 Brown. Of course, the fact that this coin is on a thick planchet is hidden by the nature of the convenient, thick white plastic insert used by NGC. We must take their word for it, however. Perhaps a foreign planchet that was mixed into the Lincoln Cent planchet hopper, or some pre World War II forgotten experiment. Whatever planchet was used was the same diameter of a Lincoln cent, and this one has a wood grain streaky appearance on both sides. Error planchets of the World War II era have proven to be enormously popular with speculators, why not add this one to your collection today.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
