Lot 1429

1929 Lincoln Cent. This is the remainder of the set of Lincolns from the Benson Collection, the earlier dates were sold as individual lots, and this shows how the coins were stored. The coins from 1929 to 1946 are mostly brilliant red uncirculated, with a couple of toned coins, like the 1930-S and 1935-D which may be slightly circulated. The coins are all mounted in National pages (3), which are themselves in excellent condition. It is apparent that these coins were put away by 1946 (when the collection stopped being formed) and placed in the bank where they were untouched for the next 54 years. Even the three steel cents are bright and fresh, and show no rust or typical problems so often encountered (although there are 2 1943-D coins, no 1943-S). The set stops with the 1946 P. An historic collection and one of the finest examples of proper coin storage over decades this office has seen. Lot of 47 coins.
Estimated Value $100 - 125.
