Freud, Sigmund (1856-1939). Austrian born and residing in Vienna until the late 1930s, Freud escaped the Nazis and lived until his death in exile in London. The most recognized name in the field of behavioral research and matters of the mind, Freud is generally considered the father of psychoanalysis, but was also a significant writer, researcher, and celebrated neurologist. His radical departures in theraputic techniques led to wide-ranging theories that influenced psychology, psychiatry, and psychotherapy, as well as religion and popular culture.

Typed letter signed ("Sigmund Freud"), in German, in black fountain pen, 8½ x 11", Vienna, Austria, November 21, 1936. Freud provides his signature for a Palestinian Festival. The letter is twice folded, but archived flat for so many years that the folds are all but invisible. Letter is handsomely matted and framed with one of Freud's most famous portraits and a biographical placard for an overall size of 21 x 23". A scarce signature from one the most influential men of the 20th century. Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,500

Realized $1,688
