Encyclopedia Britannica -- Group of Letters From Admirals Byrd and Moffett, J. Edgar Hoover, Leopold Stokowski, Emily Post, and Henry Cabot Lodge. Group of six typed letters signed by "R E Byrd," "W.A. Moffett," "J. Edgar Hoover," "Emily Post," Leopold Stokowski," and "H.L. Lodge". Written between 1924 and 1936, all are quarto size, and all but one are addressed to Mr. F.H. Hooper at Encyclopedia Britannica. Admiral Moffett writes about proofs of articles he wrote, "Air Force" and "Air Ministry"; Admiral Byrd sends greetings for the new year and a gift of apples (not present); J. Edgar Hoover refers to an article on the FBI; Stokowski sends corrections for his article on "Broadcasting, Symphonies and Operas"; and Emily Post is grateful for an offer of "a set of the half Morocco" in payment for her article on etiquette. Henry Cabot Lodge writes the president of E.B. thanking him for a copy of the publication "These Eventful Years." All lightly toned, else fine. All framed to approximately 11½ x 9".
