Thracian Islands. Thasos, AR Tetradrachm (16.6 g), after 148 BC. Head of youthful Dionysus right, wearing wreath of vines. Reverse: Herakles standing left, holding club and lionskin, ethnic around. SNG Cop. 1040; cf. Dewing 1340. Also, Thrace, Maroneia, c. 386-347 BC.; an AR Stater (10.7 g). Free horse, with loose rein, galloping left; ethnic below / Vine with grapes within linear square, ethnic around with caduceus at left, all with incuse square. Cf. SNG Cop. 304 and Dewing 1290 for reverse die. The Thasos in above average style for series. Lightly toned. The Maroneia deeply toned, with rough surfaces. Lot of 2 coins. Both Very Fine.
