Thracian Islands. Thasos, AR Tetradrachm (16.8 g), after 148 BC. Good dealer lot. Head of youthful Dionysus right, wearing wreath of vines. Reverse: Herakles standing left, holding club and lionskin, ethnic around. SNG Cop. 1040; cf. Dewing 1340. Also, Moesia, Istrus, c. 400-350 BC.; an AR Stater (5.4 g). Facing male heads, the left inverted / Sea eagle left, clasping dolphin in talons. SNG BMC, Black Sea, no. 247. The Thasos of pleasant style for series. The second sharply struck, with residual luster. Both lightly toned. Lot of 2 coins. First Very Fine; second Choice Very Fine.
