Lot 1409

1923-S Lincoln Cent. PCGS graded MS-64 Red and Brown. One of the key dates in the Lincoln series to find in gem, this one is particularly hard to locate. Here is one that is very close to that grade, the surfaces are clean and show few signs of contact. We note a minor toning streak on Lincoln's neck, but free of the usual fingerprints. Sharply struck for this mint, with full definition on the durum wheat ears, and with sharply defined lettering and devices. One minor die crack up from the rim to the left wheat ear stalk, and with several faint die file lines where the reverse was either lapped or otherwise carelessly prepared for striking coins. Hints of streaky toning on the reverse. Only 8,700,000 coined, of which only 25 qualify as full gem according to PCGS, so bid accordingly on this near gem specimen.
Estimated Value $300 - 350.

Realized $414
