Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.7 g). Nice dealer's lot. Sardes mint, struck c. 319-315 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle and scepter; star and ΠY monogram at left. Price 2664. Also, an AR Tetradrachm of Macedon under Roman Rule, after 168 BC. Head of Artemis right, quiver and bow at shoulder, all centered within decorated Macedonian shield / Horizontal club within oak wreath, ethnic around, monograms below; thunderbolt at left. SNG Ashmolean 3299. Alexander well centered on compact flan, and deeply toned. Second coin perfectly centered on nice round flan; a few minor encrustations on reverse. Lot of 2 coins. Both Very Fine.
