Rare Egyptian Mosaic Glass Face Bead ca. 1st Century A.D., Likely Depicting Medusa. Rare Egyptian mosaic glass bead with the face (likely) of Medusa. (Reference Early Glass of the Ancient World, Ernesto Wolf Collection) The more complete face clearly demonstrates the qualities of these "face beads" with the different bands of glass of deep purple and dark bluish greens reflecting black. Bead is complete however surfaces are corroded and pitted which accounts for the opposing face revealing only a partial "portrait". 15 mm glass bead and again, very rare. Estimated Value $400 - 600
From the collection of Nancy and Earl Keefer.

Realized $256
