Lot 134

1847 N-34 R5+ PCGS graded VF25. Rather glossy bluish steel and light olive. The only notable contact mark is a very light rim bruise at the second A in AMERICA. There is some minor roughness on the rim at the top of the obverse, but otherwise this cent is nice for the grade. Extremely rare EDS, die state a, before the dies were heavily lapped. This die state was unknown to Newcomb and is one of only 11 presently confirmed in the Grellman census. This is the discovery coin for the die state. Our grade is F12+, tied for CC#7 of those in die state a. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 5 finer: 1 in 35, 1 in 50, 2 in 55, 1 in 65. Estimated Value $200 - UP
