Ancient Rome. Lot of Three Ae's, 1st century AD. A lot worth looking at. First is an As of Caligula, 37-41 AD., struck 37-38 AD.: Bare head left / Vesta enthroned left (RIC 38). Also, an As of Claudius, 41-54 AD., of 42 AD.: Bare head left / Minerva right, brandishing spear (RIC 116). Also, a Sestertius of Nerva, 96-98 AD, of 97 AD.: Laureate head right / Libertas left (RIC 89). And lastly, Maximus Caesar, son of Maximinus Thrax, an AE 25 mm. of Deultum, Thrace: Draped, laureate, and cuirassed bust right / Nemesis with scales left, wheel behind (SNG Cop --; BMC p. 112, 4). Caligula with dusky green patina, with a light touch of smoothing here and there. Claudius with light smoothing to obverse, mostly the fields; and handsome variegated green, brown, and red patina. This a very nice coin. Nerva and Maximus with blackish patinas. Lot of 4 coins. Coins range from Nerva, Fine/VG, up to the Claudius, at nearly Extremely Fine.
