Early Royal Air Force Aviation Manuscript & Drawings. Manuscript notes on early aeronautic engines and planes, 14pp, folio, on ruled paper. The lecture notes cover the mechanical and structural parts and design aspects of the very early planes, and also go into the rules of flying. A separate page, 7½ x 9½ in. has a "Control Diagram" of a bi-plane on one side and a drawing of the "Main Plane" on the other; arrows point to the various parts, which are identified in blue ink. The plane is vintage World War I. The paper is toned but the writing is neat and easily read. The Royal Air Force was formed in 1918 from the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps (formed in 1912) and the Royal Naval Air Service (formed after the outbreak of WWI).
Estimated Value $300 - 400.
