Dassault, Marcel (1892-1986) French aircraft industrialist. Photograph Signed, n.p., n.d., 8 x 10 inches. A seated, chest-up portrait by Henry Pessar, Paris. Fine. Born Marcel Bloch, Dassault invented a type of aircraft propeller used by the French army during World War I. He refused to collaborate with the German aviation industry during World War II and was sent to Buchenwald as a Jew. After the war, he built the foremost military aircraft manufacturer in France, Avions Marcel Dassault.
